The requirements vary depending on the chosen procedure and are detailed therein.

The office in Montevideo issues certificates for events occurring in Montevideo as well as those occurring abroad, and also issues certificates for events in the interior of the country.


IMPORTANT: Temporarily, the delivery times for handwritten certificates until further notice are as follows:

Urgent procedure requested online: Pick up at the office located at 933 Uruguay Street, Montevideo, starting from 2 business days after payment is made. If you prefer to receive it at home, please note that the delivery time will be extended according to the delay of the Uruguayan Postal Service (approximately an additional 48 hours, also business days).


Urgent procedure with appointment: Same-day delivery at 933 Uruguay Street, Montevideo.

Regular procedure online: Pick up at the office located at 933 Uruguay Street, Montevideo, starting approximately 60 business days after payment is made. If you prefer to receive it at home, please note that the delivery time will be extended according to the delay of the Uruguayan Postal Service (approximately an additional 48 hours, also business days).


Regular procedure with appointment: Pick up starting from 2 business days. This procedure is carried out at 933 Uruguay Street, Montevideo.

In all cases, pick-up at the counter can be done from Monday to Friday between 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM at 933 Uruguay Street, Montevideo. It should be noted that no appointment is necessary for pick-up only.


Validity: Birth certificates issued by the General Directorate of Civil Registry do not expire. Validity depends on the office where the certificates are presented.

Costs


Digital certificates: No cost.


Handwritten certificates:


Urgent procedure: $548 (five hundred forty-eight Uruguayan pesos).


Regular procedure: $137 (one hundred thirty-seven Uruguayan pesos).


Note: The cost of the payment system you choose (Abitab, ANTEL, Banred, BROU, Redpagos, Red Nacional de Cobros y Pagos, or Santander) will be added to the request for handwritten certificates online.
